Imagine a spectacular view of an
entrance archway of balloons or each table decorated
with a cluster of beautiful balloons. An arch behind
the top table or in front of a stage could be
breathtaking. But did you know that balloons come in
a huge variety of sizes and colours that can be used
on any occasion? Do you know what balloons are made
of?
There are two main types of
balloons, both of which come in numerous shapes and
sizes.

MICROFOIL, which is a man-made
material, stays inflated for approximately 30
days when inflated with air or between 4 and 7
days, when inflated with helium balloon gas.

LATEX, which is a totally
natural substance, stays inflated for
approximately 30 days when inflated with air or
approximately 1 day when inflated with helium
balloon gas. Latex balloons are totally
biodegradable.
Is balloon gas safe?
Yes it is safe to use with balloons, as it is an
inert gas. This simply means that it is non-toxic,
non-flammable, odourless and colourless. It is
however, stored in pressurised containers,
therefore, care needs to be taken when storing,
transporting or being used.
